            Started in 1941 by the Freeland League for Jewish Territorial Colonization (renamed the League for Yiddish in 1979), Afn Shvel ("On the Threshold") is the world's oldest continually published Yiddish-language magazine. It is the only all-Yiddish general interest magazine currently in print, and continues publishing two double issues each year.
