This Subfonds includes materials relating to the activities of ALEPH-Centre d’études juives contemporaines and its director and founder, Dr. Sonia Sarah Lipsyc. ALEPH was created by, and is a member of, the Communauté sépharade unifiée du Québec. The Subfonds contains ALEPH internal organizational materials, issues, periodicals and press clippings, born-digital printed materials (blog posts, Facebook pages, emails), ALEPH events organizing material (notes and minutes, posters, programs, preparatory documents, questionnaires), a plastic briefcase and DVDs. Series 1 contains records related to the internal functions of ALEPH, including minutes and notes on unfinished projects. Series 2 contains records related to ALEPH’s media and director, Dr. Sonia Sarah Lipsyc, particularly in La Voix Sépharade magazine. Series 3 contains records related to events organized by ALEPH or including participation by the Center and Dr. Sonia Sarah Lipsyc. The fonds documents Aline Gubbay's personal life and her career as a photographer.
The fonds contains correspondence and biographical documents such as a birth certificate, a wedding certificate, a will, a contract and diaries. Additional personal material includes a sketch, a drawing and photographs concerning Aline Gubbay and her family.
The fonds also includes professional documents such as schedules, notebook, costume design sketches, contact sheets, negatives, slides and photographs. Many of the photographs are Gubbay's own work, including "A Street Called the Main" and "Canadian Architecture in the 19th Century: a Selective Bibliography". Other photography subjects include images of architecture found in Montreal and Westmount.
