Lilly Toth Miniature Book Collection
A collection of over 1,000 miniature books in various languages and multiple genres donated by Holocaust survivor Lilly Toth in 2021.
This primarily Judaica collection consists of material that is fragile, unusual, controversial, or costly. Much of this collection dates back to the early 19th-century and is quite rare.
About 1800 volumes dating back to 1481, this collection includes works on the Bible, Talmud, the kabbalistic works, early grammars, liturgical texts, and history.
Yizkor (memorial) books document Jewish communities destroyed in the Holocaust. The collection is mostly in Yiddish and Hebrew with a number of titles increasingly translated into English. Some volumes exist in the regular circulating collection and can be borrowed.
All special collections can be consulted within the library upon the presentation of a library card or photo ID.
Jewish themed books published by the following: Targum, Judaica Press, Feldheim, Mesorah, CIS and Shaar. These books are identified in the JPL with Jewish stars on the spine.
