    Scope and content

The report--compiled by Saul Bernstein (and published as a bound book) for a Mr. David Rose of New York City--contains a synthesis of available literature about Newfoundland's religion, agriculture, social life, and "mineralogy," conducted in order to consider the province as a space for Jewish settlement. The book is comprised of thorough research on Newfoundland political history, land and agriculture, revenue, present economic situation, and governmental structure, and includes many inserts of maps which depict various facets of Newfoundland life, from religious groups to agricultural divisions.
