History
Alice Postner (Dec. 20 1905 - April 16 1967, nee Raphael) was a Montreal pianist, composer and music teacher. Born in Montreal, she attended the Montreal Pianoforte School of Music, then MacDonald College to be trained as a teacher. While teaching, Mrs. Postner gave lessons in piano and music theory from her home. At age 35, she attended McGill for a Bachelor of Music, graduating in 1957 and went on to teach Conservatorium of Music at the University. In the late 1940's Mrs. Postner began composing her own choral music. In the 1950's her compositions were published. Alice Postner was married to Jacob Postner with whom she had a son and daughter.
