            Miriam Home and Services was established in 1962, originally known as Miriam Home for the Exceptional, out of a need to provide resources and services for young people with intellectual disabilities from the Montréal Jewish community.

            Since its inception, the organization has had a rich history in serving the communities of Greater Montréal, offering rehabilitative, social, community, work and residential services to children and adults with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

            Modern Bookshop
            Corporate body

            A young activist by the name of Léa Roback, along with Jack Gold and future member of the legislature Fred Rose, set up the Modern Book Shop, located on Bleury Street near Dorchester. The bookshop sold progressive novels, journals, pamphlets, and newspapers, such as The Daily Clarion from Toronto, and Clarté, the Montréal weekly started in 1936 by Stanley Bréhaut Ryerson and others.
