Consists of documentation of Boris Rubinstein's work with the UNRRA mission in the former Yugoslavia, such as reports and publications, as well as personal correspondence, photographs, and documentation of Mr. Rubinstein's time in the Canadian Army.

Contains notes on refugee case studies (most of which were denied entry and whose denials were contested), printed case reports, correspondence with subjects who want to be involved with the documentary, correspondence and information from the Committee to Aid Refugees, a DVD entitled "Lives on Hold," and two unlabeled DVDs.

Also includes two memoranda, "Memorandum containing a summary of the discussion on points presented to the Family Welfare Association Policy Committee" (Feb. 29, 1940) and "Federation Relief Problem - Past and Present" (November 6, 1941).

Contains general research on refugees for documentary including printed information packages, leaflets, forms for refugees provided by the government, much of which comes from Citizenship and Immigration Canada and from Canada Council for Refugees.

Contains loose leaf notes on meetings with immigration lawyer Annick Legault, who represented a refugee Beverly Shaffer was to interview. Also includes research on Angola and Cabinda, and newspaper clippings on attitudes toward refugees in Montreal.
