        History

David Augenfeld was active in the Lithuanian partisan resistance in the Vilnius ghetto. Escaping with his future wife, Liba, in 1943, they joined the Jewish unit of the Voroshilov, a partisan group active in Narocz forest, where they remained until liberated by Soviet forces in July 1944. They immigrated to Montreal in 1948 and Augenfeld set up a knitting mill, which he ran for thirty years. He and Liba were also involved in the Yiddish programming of the Jewish Public Library, where he served as president from 1977-1979.
