Vladimir Heifetz was a Russian-American pianist and composer, as well as choir director of Temple Anshe Chesed in New York. We was well known for creating 300 compositions, opera, cantatas, and more on Jewish themes.
Herman Heimlich was born in Hungary in 1904 and was trained in art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. After graduation he became an instructor in that same institution. Heimlich left Budapest in 1928 and travelled throughout Europe, the United States, and Canada. During this time he painted and exhibited. He settled in Montreal in 1930 and opened his own studio, where he taught fine arts. Post World War II, many of his students were military veterans attending school as part of their Vocational Training Program. Later, he also became an instructor at the Department of Fine Arts at the Saidye Bronfman Art Centre.
Herman Heimlich had numerous exhibitions, both solo and group. He had solo shows at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Agnes Lefort Gallery, the Penthouse Gallery, and the Saidye Bronfman Centre. Heimlich illustrated children's books and painted murals for public and private buildings in the United States and Canada. His works reside in private residences, galleries, and museums throughout Canada, the United States, England, Israel, Portugual, Hungary, South America, and South Africa.
Eric Sidney Helfield was born in Montreal in 1931. (where he lived and went to school) He was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in 1952 and a (BCL, 1955) from McGill University. He was a barrister and served for 14 years, between 1976 and 1990, as City Councilor of the City of Côte-Saint-Luc. Eric Helfield died October 3, 2002 in Montreal.
Tilya Helfield was born in Montreal in 1933. She received her (BFA) from Concordia University in. She was a writer, printmaker and artist. Tilya died July 29, 2017 in Toronto.
