The bulk of the fonds is comprised of records pertaining to Charles Lazarus' career as a prolific journalist. Numerous newspaper clippings and copies of articles written by Lazarus during his time at Montreal Star, The New York Times, Toronto Star, Variety Magazine, London Jewish Chronicle, and Jerusalem Post can be found in the fonds in an array of genres from film and theatre review and travel writing to politics, urban development, Canadian-Israeli relations, and Expo 67.

A number of additional records, like receipts from his travels, visa applications, correspondence with hotels, and trip itineraries attest to his specialty as a travel writer.
